Sisaket is one of the provinces of Thailand with a long history, and one of a place of ancient civilization which blends well with diverse traditions especially ancient Khmer and Isaan (northeastern) tradition.  That makes Sisaket is an interesting province with its unique tradition. 

Forests, rivers, plants and wildlife are natural resources having nourished Sisaket people for a long period of time.  There are also many beautiful tourist attractions recommended.

At present, Sisaket has 20 districts – Mueang, Yang Chum Noi, Kantrararom, Kantraralak, Khukhan, Phrai Bueng, Prang Ku, Khun Han, Rasi Salai, Uthumphon, Phisai, Bueng Bun, Huai Thap Than, Non Khun, Si Rattana, Nam Kliang, Wang Hin, Phu Sing, Mueang Chan, Benchalak, and Phayu, and 2 sub-districts – Pho Si Suwan, Sila Lat.

How to go

There are buses from Bangkok to Sisaket in Bangkok’s northern bus terminal (Mo Chit 2) daily.  It takes about 8-9 hours to get to Sisaket.  For more information, call 1490 or go to the website www.transport.co.th

Wat Pa Maha Jedi Kaeo (Wat Larn Kuad)

Located in the municipality region, the Buddhist temple is remarkable with architectures made from million of colourful glass bottles donated by the people. All the architecture is beautiful, particularly the pavilion called ‘Sala Thansamo Maha Chedi Kaeo’ Ubosoth located mid of the pond. The ubosoth houses a very beautiful white jade Buddha image. How to get there: From Si Sa Ket City to Amphoe Khun Han, use highway 211 and 2111, en route Amphoe Phayu and Phrai Bueng. This route is 61 kilometres long.

Khao Phra Viharn National Park

The park’s territory lines Thailand-Cambodia border, over high cliff and lush forest of Dongrek Range. Khao Phra Wihan National Park acquires 130 square kilometres area of Amphoe Kantharalak of Si Sa Ket, Sub Amhoe Nam Khun and Amphoe Nam Yuen of Ubon Ratchathani. The country’s 83rd National Park was established on March 20, 1998.
